The OIR test is a written test that evaluates the verbal and non-verbal reasoning abilities of the candidates. The PPDT test is a group test that involves showing a picture to the candidates and asking them to write a story based on it and then discuss it with other candidates. The candidates who qualify this stage are called for Stage II.

This stage is conducted over the next four to five days after Stage I. It consists of four tests: Psychological Test, Group Tests, Interview, and Conference. The Psychological Test is a written test that involves various projective techniques such as Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), and Self Description Test (SDT). The Group Tests are a series of outdoor and indoor activities that evaluate the candidates' leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. The Interview is a personal interaction with an interviewing officer who asks questions related to the candidates' personal, academic, professional, and general awareness. The Conference is a final meeting of all the assessors who discuss the performance of each candidate and decide whether to recommend them or not.
