"Note: Jeremy is not a romantic interest, but Alex can still form a certain type of relationship with him. Jeremy has his own story route and endings as well." ----Now that I know this I'm a little less grossed out. This developer clearly listens, so that is great. Unfortunately I have to say I don't recommend it. -_-* I really wanted to like this more. I feel really bad giving a BL game when there are so few a negative review. I just don't think because we are a niche our quality should have to suffer so greatly. The voice acting is good. Even though it is in Korean they sound great. You play as Alex. Alex is well, a jerk. He treats everyone terribly... Litterally r@pes and abuses everyone around him because he has issues with these other character's dad. You don't know why Alex is r@ping everyone... But he is mad. About something... I've completed every ending for Joshua and started working on Oscar. I'm still very confused why Alex holds so much contempt for the rest of the family, even after finishing the game several times. The writting is not that great. There is very little depth. The translating had some issues to English. The script uses. ".. the latter." many, many times when refereing to who is speaking or who did an action. Which is honestly quite hard to follow when your reading because it requires you to open up the log and see which name was mentioned last over and over. The sex happens actually too soon and too often. The characters seem to have alot of passion for each other but as a reader you never understand why because more than half the game you don't know why Alex is even in the their house or anything that happened in the past. The price of $30 is really interesting when you look at other games. A play though took me about 5 hours and there are about 10 or so, two answer questions each playthough that decide where the game goes... I guess it isn't bad, but there really isn't many choices and the questions really just drive to story towards which guy you want to abuse, r@pe, and end up ruining. The story does not take 25 hours... At all. Half of the writting and speach is heavy breathing and moaning. Maybe if you completed every single ending for every single guy there'd be 25 hours. I beat all the endings with Joshua, 3 of the 4 for him were essentially "game over" you made the wrong choice endings...One of the love interest is a very young child... One is a very young tween... Which is honestly just wrong. And weird. This is a game for +18... Why are there interests that are clearly children?. one of the best bl of this freaking place. artwork is completely gorgeous, the voices are amazing too. beware for non-con, dont play if you dont feel comfortable with that. the story is nice too, you learn a bit more of it in each route. i loved this game, i want more.. Recommended, if you are a grown up fangirl. Well, this game won't be suitable for younger & innocent player, and definitely not suitable for who was looking for a romatic love story. Before buying this game, I read the other reviews too. And this is my thought about them after I completed it:- Yes, Alex is not smart enough, and overall I think everyone in this game are not smart enough. It's not a game about real revenge and master mind after all.- The story is not really good, some of the parts are not logic to me. But acceptable, and I like how feeling is described in this game.- Some review say there is no love in the routes. I must say that they're wrong - not always that love must be all lovey-dovey with each other, but deep love is express through decision, feeling and what they do.Especially the love between two men, in that time of history. Lovey-dovey love in many visual novel usually feel really forced and not real to me. But in here, if you notice the character expression and their way of thinking, you'll see the love between them, how they feel, how they restrain it because of the situation they are in and the position of them in the society.- At first, I wasn't expected much from this game. Bought it for the BL and the scenes they promised to have, and they are good. But after completed it, I think it's good enough. Please complete all the routes because after my first two routes, I thought that the story is too shallow. But after all of the route, I love it. It's not a really deep and logic story, but I think is good enough.Okay, and next part will be the spoiler :D please don't read if you don't want to be spoiled. I'll review all the routes here, and mostly it's my opinions. It'll spoil everything.1. Jeremy: it's a non-H route, and really short. I think if Alex really loves his sister as he thought, Jeremy's good end will be the real things that will happens. Because Alex loved his sister so much, he'll love Jeremy too, and that would be the only thing that can help him to be free from his revenge for his beloved sister. But the things is, Alex is not revenging for his sister - based on his characteristic of all routes, he's more likely revenging himself, from being taken away his precious sister, from having his painfully childhood.2. Laurence: Alex gave up his revenge too easy that it's unreal in this route (if you choose to). It's like Alex is throwing himself to choose to be with Laurence. I think if the creators could add some more suffer in Alex though and actions before him giving up to be with Laurence then it'll be better and feel more real and more sastifying later when Alex finally gave up on his revenge to choose to be with Laurence.Laurence's bad end is actually really well done with an after credit about Alex with his revenge completed. And it's good because it tell the truth about Alex and Laurence's positions in the society and their family, that make me understand the character better.I think Laurence's good end is actually not a good end. Because it only ends on Alex and Laurence on the same bed, happy after they became one. It doensn't tell what will happens after that. Based on the bad end's truth about Laurence - he'll not give up on his family expectation easily to be with Alex, and his feeling for Alex is not as strong as his feeling for his brother, the afterward of this "good end" will be another tragedy for Alex.3. Joshua: 4 difference ending, as Joshua's character was described really well throughout all the ending. I really like Joshua (only after Theodore) as his actions are logic enough for me and I his route gave me the best ride through all of it. And the process that made him come to love Alex, as well as how Alex came to love him is logic too. Because of the same wound they're sharing, and the fact that he did no harm to Alex's sister, Alex can came to love him for real, as well as how Alex make him came to love too.Alex gave up of his revenge doen't feel too forced on his good end, and I can see the future of them in this ending too - which make Joshua's good end the most satisfying in my opinions.4. Oscar: This is a logical route, and describe Alex's revenge feeling really good too. I really like both Alex and Oscar in this route, and I can feel that after everything that happened, Oscar came to love Alex, too. In his good end, Oscar and Alex finally make peace with each other - they can't came to love each other because of Oscar responsibility and position in his family, but I think Oscar can never forget Alex. His self-esteem made him can't accept at first, but then later everything from his past to the present made him fall for Alex and yearn for Alex's forgiveness. This good end is a beautiful and undertandable one.5. Morris: To be honest I don't really like old bottom type, and Morris is not really a main character in this revenge story, so I wasn't paying much attentions in this route. But Alex is really smart in this one and it helps reveal the past, too.6. Theodore: I played this route last because he's not my type and he is not one of the main characters in this revenge story. And then I came to like him the most, because of his love for Alex, and the bittersweet feeling of the facts that he's the only one that doesn't have a real good ending. But all of his ending are well written and I was overwhelmed by his love for Alex. I feel so sad that Alex only want to take advantage of Theodore and because he's only a servant, he can't be Alex's lover that he deserved to be. The only route that Alex actually feel sympathy and care for Theodore a little result in Theodore became a mad man that fall into the darkness.I really really like Theodore, and will be really happy if there can be a real good-end for him. If only Alex can understand him better... Theodore really deserves better. Overall It's a good ride for me. So I recommend it.Hopefully can see more and better games from the developer!. Holy ♥♥♥♥, “Beyond Eden” (first ever visual novel I spent money on... I played DramaticalMURDER + it’s extra content & the first Silver Chaos + Silver Chaos Fantasia, on pirated copies do to being a poor teenager at the time...), if that game was ♥♥♥♥ing (hehehe) book, I would proudly display it on my bookshelf, despite it being an homoerotic ♂ x ♂ novel. Granted I only did one ending so far called “The Two Bullets”, but damn was it engaging! Even if the fact that you are... Ahem... Engaging in unwanted sexual acts with the guys (you play as the antagonist in the game, your obviously a horrible person that only cares about his own goals... Even if you resist, in the end your still the “bad guy”, I personally found the story more interesting playing as a sly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. But, remember♥♥♥♥♥♥is bad m’kay?), but anyway, the story itself is great even if those interactions were only implied or replaced with something else just as threatening to the characters..Hey, even if you don’t like guy on guy action, the plot of the novel is still worth it and the Steam version is censored. (As in you don’t see♥♥♥♥♥♥♥or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s, the worse you might see is a bare chest with♥♥♥♥♥splattered somewhere and a blow job with the perspective showing nothing but a guy kneeling in front of the MC.) It was about $39 CND and comes with 2 DLCs: the soundtrack for about $11 CND and a digital Art Book for about $6 CND. I only got the novel and the music.Only issue I saw so far is a few translation errors and instances where the narrator/characters would say/repeat their own name in the text when they obviously ment to say "Alex". That made me loose focuse a couple of times, but is forgivable... Unlike Alex's hate/possible insanity.... THIS REVIEW WILL ONLY BE HELPFUL IF YOU LIKE KOREAN VOICE ACTORS FROM CHERITZ GAMES AND/OR BLs: seriously. don't read on if you don't like either :xI've just spent way too long updating vndb accordingly to edit and include all of the VAs but...MY GOODNESS.My revelations below. If you don't care for VAs, skip below the horrendous bulleting.VA Comparison below with other otomes in case anyone cared even half as much as I did: Nameless Lance = Alex[**] The Ice Prince is back as a British Gentleman Nameless Yujin = Theodore[**] LOL YAS my favorite glasses-wearing-skeleton-loving Doc is back as another man in uniform...in glasses...with another obsession... Nameless Yeon-ho = Laurence[**] My least Nameless favorite character redeemed as my favorite route in Beyond Eden Nameless Red = Oscar[**] Nameless' Hero of Justice as the next Baron in line and the epitome of a true Gentleman? YAAS Nameless Yuri = Doctor Morris[**] My favorite Nameless character in an even more mature role but...his route wasn't easy to listen/read through because I liked him so much T_T Mystic Messenger Yoosung = Edward[**] This revelation made me gasp. I never really really liked Yoosung but got intrigued with Edward and wasn't disappointed. HOMEBOI NEEDS A ROUTE DEVS While I'm wishing...can the Baron get a route too? :> redemption story? insight into his thinking? mebs? n,n Essentially, if you want to hear these VAs in more mature, adult scenarios and enjoy or don't mind BL, GET THIS GAME. YOU WON'T REGRET IT. So outside of the VA fangirling, the plot is pretty interesting as you can garner from the summary and from other reviews so I won't divulge here. And although there isn't MUCH romance, there is great character development in some of the routes not only for the MC/Alex but for the other characters as well. It's honestly one of those games where I ended up not really playing for the sexual content (although...no complaints :x huhuuu), but I actually wanted to read on and see what the heck some of the characters were thinking/planning/going to do next. also let me just say, based on some of the reviews, i was fearing the ends/routes were going to be soul crushingly awful but they are NO WHERE as bad as I thought. Yes, there's non-con smexy time and one route in particular was a bit hard to read through (my poor Yuri ;_;) but none seriously questioned my sanity or in humanity that made me want to mind bleach the hell out of my memories (cough DMMD COUGH CHOKE COUGH Hadaka ♥♥♥♥♥uji ugh).My only issues would be: Kind of short for a $30+ game and doesn't have full voice acting (even though I went back and chose every single dialogue choice available (because I really wanted to see the different character reactions, worth it!), got every ending, procured every CG and it all took less than 18 hours). Wish they offered subtitles in both the original Korean alongside English The only other issue I had was that some of the endings...didn't feel like endings. Felt like I read the penultimate chapter and the book just ends! I really craved for an epilogue or something with more closure, but maybe they can add DLCs? If so...THAT'D BE PERFECTION.But seriously, this game would be one of my BL favs, potentially rivalling Luckydog, NYT, coming out on top and lowkey DMMD orz So if you like BLs with a bit of intrigue, complex characters, and don't mind not having a lovey dovey romance but still just as satisfying character interactions, get the game or at least test out the demo :]. A complex and intriguing story, beautiful sprite/CG art, and real erotic heat mostly make up for weak background art and (especially) an awful translation. Studio Pieplus: please, please, please have a native English speaker edit your next translation! It's not just that the language is stilted; there are places where the translator wrote literally the opposite of the meaning of the original line. You're asking too much for this game to offer something so unprofessional in this respect.. An absolutely brilliant game. Definitely would recommand it to people who enjoy the genre! My personal score is 120/100 and I admit I haven't even finished it. I have only fully explored one character's story (namely Joshua's) and IT IS AMAZING. I've only just finished it but I am going to play it again right away. I loved everything about it. The story is great. The BEs are gorgeously sinister and nihilistic, while the HE is so bright and indeed hopeful. The character design is also wonderful. Though there may be some cliche, they have done it really well and everyone seems really interesting with their own unique psychological fears and needs. I must admit the Korean voice acting put me off a little bit at first, but I suppose that is simply because I am much more used to Japanese games. It took a little bit of time for adjustment but overall it did not affect my gaming experience. And I suppose... it may not be for the faint of heart? I personally love this kind of story but it's probably not for everyone, despite the fact that it isn't THAT dark. It's quite dark; and has elements that are not for everyone's taste. A matter of personal preferece, though I do feel sorry for those that miss out because of such reasons XD[SPOILERS ALERT]The only thing I am less satisfied with is the fact that... some of the plots still have clear potentials that can be developed further. Jealousy is one that I saw another comment mentioning. The plot with Catherine could easily delve deeper, yet it did not. The actual destruction of the house is another that I would love to see, and I was surprised with the rather abrupt ending of Joshua's BE Blood Sacrifice. It was still good, but the dark momentum that was building up until that point was kind of left hanging after the line ended. And I admit I'm just so malicous that I really want like to see Alex using his tools to break the house apart. There are other instances of such slight fustrations. It is a great game, but I just love it so much I want it to be even greater!. A beautiful game. 9/10The story is a pretty dark and yet very touching.Pros:1. Very complex story.2. Strong characters.3. Great art & music.4. Good lenght.Cons:1. Subtitles could be better.
